i can not whine anymore

my friend shannon gave birth last night at home--her husband kurt delivered their daughter!

to show that god can work miracles in friendship let's just contrast my good friend and i:

me- calling doctor at first pain beyond 35 weeks
shan- no worries at 42 weeks

me- all about drugs and maximum medical intervention
shan- worked with mid-wife for 2nd and this baby for least intrusive monitoring

me- give me the pitocin to get this started
shan- drank 4 oz of laxative oil only after her weekly appointment at 42 weeks; then left the birthing center when nothing happened within an hour

me- feeling the baby coming fast; CALL 911
shan- get the master bedroom ready for a home birth

i can sum up the difference between michael and his friend kurt by quoting michael's response after kurt sent out the announcement: "good for you my man, the only crowning i ever want to see is a new king or queen! i am not shaking your hand again!"
